FeraletteRock 'n Roll Group

Artist:The Big Bad Johns
Home:New Haven, CT

"This is a million miles better than Stray Cats' strut... The singer bristles
with conviction, and the guitar stings and buzzes..."  Dom Salemi, The
Brutarian

"A fun-filled circus of rockabilly, this band could be the spawn of an unholy
union between the Fabulous Thunderbirds and Southern Culture on the Skids...
songs about getting drunk and women who done them wrong are punctuated by
good old-fashioned musicianship..." Flipside

The Big Bad Johns attained tremendous critical and live praise following their 1995 debut release Plymouth Rock.  The group toured widely in the eastern US and southern Canada before releasing 1998's roots rock gem I Will Be Good, produced by James Mastro (Bongos, Health and Happiness Show) and featuring Will Rigby (DB's, Matthew Sweet, Steve Earle) on the skins. Led by the manly growl of Detroit Dick Hulett the band has floored audiences with their punk infected rockabilly swagger. The songwriting has always been top shelf courtesy of Buzz Gordo, Detroit Dick, Nervous Chet Purvis  and recently Bill "Catdog" Collins.

Due to Detroit Dick's move to Los Angeles in 1999 the band is currently on hold, though Feralette is preparing for the release of a rare live CD to be released in early 2001. The remaining CT based band members (sans Buzz Gordo) have recently formed The Swaggerts with Bill Collins assuming the lead songwriting and vocal duties. Speculation as to the Big Bad Johns' frustration over label funding and management are of course unfounded. The following correspondance evidences Feralette's immediate action taken after receiving a memo from Dick regarding the group's rate of return on their initial release.

I Will Be Good

February 1, 1998

Dear "Detroit" Dick,

You are a fucking redneck. I just busted my ass in a staff meeting to put our top intern in charge of your country act. As you may already know, we have expanded our promotional efforts to include both Fairfield and Westchester counties. This kind of promotion is not cheap. As per section 34ht67hu of your contract, the band "Big Bad Johns" is entitled to so-called "scrapings" from the Feralette money till. As you are aware, these monies are back-dated to accrue after the second quarter of the sixth trimester of every second "earnings period." Obviously you have no clue as to the complexity of the situation. I would advise a "sit down" meeting with some of the Feralette underlings so we can explain our position in this matter. My advice, as per our attorney, Mr. Fetchall esq., is that you buckle down and write some pop songs in the vein of Smashing Pumpkins so we can get down to brass tacks and move some product. Let's have a positive attitude.

P.S. We are working on a festival in Decatur, GA with Boone's Farm and Cloverleaf. You guys will go on at 7:00 PM (right before the wet T-shirt contest). There should be some label people there, Spongebath from
Murfreesboro has already been confirmed!
